Last week, we participated in the annual Superdogs show for the 3rd year in a row. The Superdogs show is a fun performance that highlights the dog/human relationship and having fun with your dog while doing fun things like frisbee, agility style runs, etc. This year I took all 3 dogs and to my surprise, all 3 dogs were in the show! Mariah led off the 2 shows by running in the opening sequence of jumps, a dog walk and tunnel, then we got to 'boogy' back down the arena with all the other dogs off-leash and playing! It was then Brisco's turn to run the long course head-to-head against the best Superdogs relay dog. He gave a valliant effort, but I was too far behind for the last set of jumps and he turned to look which let the other dog win. The show then had barrel racing, musical mats and high jump. Mariah ran the weave poles for Jo and did ok. After that Trek got to make his performace debut as he competed in the longest frisbee throw competition! I was the only girl throwing in the group and had a decent throw! The first day, the frisbee bounced off Trek's nose so he didn't catch it. Not sure if the spotlight got in his eye. The second day he caught it and we had the longest catch for awhile. Then the professionals came in and blew us away! Brisco got to close out the show in the relays and did awesome as always! For the second show, I decided to try Trek in the opening. He nailed all the jumps, but took the tunnel instead of the dog walk. It worked out ok since I made it look like we ran it as planned. :) He did great for his first 2 shows in the spotlight in front of a couple thousand people!
Part of the fun of Superdogs is taking the dogs to a 'pat & chat' session. The crowd all gathers in a big outdoor tent and we bring in our dogs. The kids swarm the dogs and pet them, hug them and ask questions. Many of the adults do the same. I took Mariah and Trek and they both do great in the crowds. Trek loved all the attention and was very well behaved. People were surprised that he was only 11 months old! I wish I got some pictures with the kids, but I did get a couple the next day of Trek on the hay bales.
With Superdogs over, it was time to get back to house projects. In December we refurbished the fireplace. It used to be a wood burning fireplace and we had it converted to gas and put up new tile.
The next big project is the kitchen. We've been working hard on it and have completely torn out the old cabinets, ran new electrical and had someone come mud and texture the drywall. Once that was done we painted using a lighter color to brighten the kitchen up. Now we're working on installing the new cabinets and after 1 day, we have almost all the upper cabinets up and a few of the lowers in.
We still have quite a bit of work to do, but it's nice to see the new cabinets and we're excited for what it will become! We have other projects planned including a new deck out back and fencing in a dog run. It's a lot of work, but it's fun to see the transformations.
Coming up in February we have 2 NADAC trials and a flyball demo. Brisco's wrist is still a tad sore at times, so hopefully he'll be 100% so he can play.
