For the 3rd year in a row (and 4 out of the past 5 years), we drove the pups to Scottsdale to compete in the Cynosports Flyball tournament. Cynosports is doggie olympics with the USDAA agility championships, flyball, Splash Dogs, Lure Coursing, Herding and Frisbee! Both Mariah and Brisco qualified for USDAA this year, but we decided to do flyball again. The past 2 years we're raced team Edge with Ace-Brisco-Lexi-Mariah. Our teammates couldn't make it, so we had to mix it up a little and add in Calvin & Bogie. This made our team Mariah and her tri-colored boys! She is partial to the tri-colors since she lives with one.
Travis wasn't able to drive down with me this year, so we came up with an alternate plan. We packed 2 people, 4 dogs, 2 canopies, 2 ex-pens, a flyball box, balls, cooler and the rest of our stuff into our explorer! Thank goodness we have a roof rack. The explorer packed really well and the dogs and people ended up with more room than we thought. As usual, we drove to Albuquerque after work on Wed. then finished the drive on Thurs.
Racing started on Friday and we had a few mistakes since we hadn't been able to practice and haven't run together that much. The dogs did great and we took 3rd on the first day. On Saturday, we ran better and got a team best time of 19.482. That time put us as #11 overall and one team didn't want to go to the single elim finals on Sunday, so we got to go! They had a strange rule that you couldn't have the same 4 dogs on the regular team that you could in the finals. We only had 4 dogs racing, so we didn't have much of a choice. Luckily on Sunday, Yuka and Maple from Japan were available to race with us! They were there for agility and were finished for the weekend. We added her to our roster and ran an 18.643 in the first round of finals! Unfortunaltely, we had a mistake that cost us the win, but we had fun racing with Yuka and Maple. The rest of the day our team ran really well and we ended on a good note. Cynosports will be moving to a new location, so we probably won't be headed back down there anytime soon.
After racing we packed the explorer and hit the road earlier than we had in the past few years! We made it to Albuquerque by 10:00pm and had a nice relaxing drive back to Denver on Monday. We even stopped along the way to take a couple pictures of the pups. It's nice having 4 well behaved dogs! :)

Jason used to race motorcycles and his race number was 399!
